Casteen to Deliver 'State of the University' Address Feb. 6

February 1, 2008 — University of Virginia President John T. Casteen III will deliver his annual State of the University address on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at noon in Old Cabell Hall.

Casteen will discuss the University's current condition as well as plans for the future. He will also discuss the General Assembly session, including proposals to finance higher education construction projects. U.Va. had two projects included in a higher-education bond package proposed by Gov. Timothy Kaine: an information technology engineering building and the renovation of New Cabell Hall.

Casteen will also give updates on the searches under way for deans in six of the University's 11 schools, on current building projects, on the $3 billion Campaign for the University of Virginia and the work of the Commission on the Future of the University.
 
The event is free and open to the public.
