July 15, 20101 — Controlled blasting will be used Friday to remove rock from a section of Alderman Road in front of Dunglison House to accommodate a new electrical duct bank connecting Gooch-Dillard to the University of Virginia's power system.
Blasting will occur at 9 a.m., noon, and 3 p.m., with three short tones announcing the start of the process and one short tone marking the end. The contractor will maintain a safe perimeter around the blast zone and adjacent buildings will be required to remain vacant. People near the work area may hear muffled noises and feel vibrations.
