Dec. 1, 2006 -- To give U.Va. employees more time to participate in the 2006 CVC workplace-giving program, the deadline has been extended until 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8. So far, employees have raised $401,271 out of the $650,000 goal.

Through the CVC, when employees designate their gifts, 100 percent goes to the charities they choose. "If there is one word that sums up the spirit of the holiday season, it is giving," notes Larry Sabato, the 2006 CVC Honorary Chair. "The CVC presents the perfect opportunity for each of us to give back to the larger community at just the right moment. Everyone can do something to meet the needs of worthy charities. Now is the time!"

Sabato will contribute $1 to his designated charity, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, for every person who donates to the CVC. Pledge online at www.virginia/edu/cvc or by contacting uvacvc@virginia.edu or 924-1321.
