December 3, 2010 — The footbridge over Meadow Creek near the University of Virginia's Lambeth Field Residence Area will be closed starting Monday.
Pedestrians will be redirected to the automobile and bicycle bridge that crosses the creek and serves as the vehicle entrance to the Lambeth housing area.
The bridge is being replaced by a new span approximately 50 feet north of the current structure. The new bridge, which will be wider and positioned differently on the creek, will consist of a steel structure with concrete abutments.
The project, estimated to cost $157,000, is scheduled to be complete by Jan. 14.
