Hoo's Well@ Offers Spring Programs

March 7, 2012 — If you're looking to improve your physical or mental health this spring, Hoo's Well@ spring programs are open to all staff and spouses on the University of Virginia health plan, even if you didn't participate in the biometric screening or online health assessment last fall.

Hoo's Well@ Get Started

The group fitness class, which focuses on strength, endurance, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility and balance, runs three times a week from March 12 to April 12. Participants can take this class only once. Register with Intramural-Recreational Sports.

Emotional Brain Training

Starting March 26, this new, six-week class teaches the skills to manage stress and implement healthy intentions. Two different time slots are offered. Orientation and attendance at certain sessions are required. Call U.Va. Nutrition at 434-243-4749 or email Robert Fitzgerald.

Steps@ UVa

The session offers 15 minutes of energizing activity twice a week for six weeks and is offered from April 9 to May 16. All you need is a pair of good walking shoes to get your heart rate up, stretch your limbs and strengthen your muscles. Register with WorkMed at 434-243-0077 or at the website.

Monticello Volkswalk

Join IM-Rec and friends for the Monticello Volkswalk on April 15, sponsored by the U.Va. Cavalier Volkssporting Club. Five- and 10-kilometer routes will start and finish at Michie Tavern.
