Students from pre-kindergartners to high school seniors will benefit from the studies, funded by nearly $10 million in federal grants.

Teach those lowercase letters! That and other findings by Curry School of Education researchers on the academic, emotional, social and physical wellbeing of kids across the span of childhood put a wealth of information at parents’ fingertips.

One graduate student calls her “a paragon for how to conduct oneself in academia while balancing intellectual integrity, scholarly rigor and genuine compassion for those with whom she works.”

Kevin Guskiewicz, national exercise and sports medicine expert, professor and MacArthur “genius grant” recipient, is Curry School’s 2013 distinguished alumnus.

The alumna, whose school has 940 students from 50 different countries and has met Virginia SOL standards from 2005 to 2012, has been named 2013 Outstanding Principal.

The principal of an elementary school with children from 50 foreign countries, a national expert on concussions and a champion lacrosse coach are among the recipients.
