During the 2013 football season, the Cavalier Appreciation Award will be given to an outstanding University of Virginia employee. At Saturday’s home football game against Brigham Young University, Jamie DeVore, manager of radiation oncology, will receive the first award.

In May, DeVore received a 2013 Leonard W. Sandridge Outstanding Contribution Award, the highest U.Va. honor staff receive for their dedicated service to the University.

Since 2005, DeVore has worked in the Department of Radiation Oncology in the U.Va. School of Medicine as administrative manager and as executive secretary to the department chair.

DeVore consistently strives to find ways to increase revenue, cut costs and improve quality and patient care.

In 2012, she streamlined billing processes as one of her primary goals. DeVore also serves as the human resources manager for the department and coordinates all recruitment and personnel searches. She directly supervises six employees and serves as a role model to her colleagues.
