MEDIA ADVISORY: Sandridge to Describe Challenges Facing U.Va., Community

December 6, 2010 — Leonard W. Sandridge, executive vice president and chief operating officer at the University of Virginia, will reflect on the University's past and current role in the community when he speaks Tuesday, Dec. 7, at U.Va.'s fall Neighborhoods Advisory Group meeting.

The meeting is an invitation-only event. It is open to media.

During the meeting, which will begin at noon in the Jefferson Room of the Cavalier Inn, Sandridge will address some of the shared challenges he sees facing the University and the community and describe voluntary relationships and agreements between the University and local governments. He will step down as executive vice president and COO in May.

In addition, David Neuman, architect for the University, will describe U.Va.'s recent sustainability initiatives.

Organized by U.Va.'s Office of Community Relations, the meeting is part of the University's on-going efforts to communicate with residents close to Grounds. Organized around the theme, "University of Virginia: Moving Forward," the meeting is expected to attract about 25 leaders of neighborhoods bordering U.Va.
