Andrea Jane Johnson Gum, a registered nurse in the University of Virginia Health System’s endoscopy unit, died July 24 in Augusta County when a train collided with her vehicle. She was 47.

Well-known for her caring nature, her husband Carlos Gum told NBC-29, “She still called the hospital. And checked on my neighbor. That was her. She’d get out of that bed no matter how sick she was to take care of anybody.”
