Harvey G. Brown Sr., a former security guard at the University of Virginia, died Oct. 28 in Charlottesville. He was 82.

Brown began working at U.Va. in 1953 as a culinary educator and later became a security guard. He retired in 1987 from the latter position after 30 years.
