In Memoriam: James Edward May

 

James Edward May, a former University of Virginia engineering professor, died Aug. 10 in Auburn, Calif.

May was on the faculty of the School of Engineering and Applied Science from 1946 until 1962, teaching in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department. He was elected to the Raven Society in 1959.

May moved to California in 1962 to work for the Lockheed Corporation.

After early retirement in 1980, he returned to Charlottesville to work at the U.S. Army Foreign Sciences and Technology Center, from which he retired five years later.
