July 22, 2009 — Nellie Jackson Phillips Thomas died July 11. She received her R.N. degree from the University of Virginia School of Nursing. Thomas worked as a nurse at the University of Virginia Medical Center and at the Martha Jefferson Hospital during the 1940s.
