Outstanding Contribution Award Nominations Due March 21

March 13, 2008 — The Outstanding Contribution Award is the highest honor for staff at the University, recognizing employees whose service and contributions have far exceeded the usual and customary expectations of their positions. Each winner receives a $1,000 cash award, an engraved plaque and public recognition at a ceremony.

Nominations for this year's awards must be received in "hard copy" by University Human Resources, 914 Emmet Street, by 5 p.m. on March 21. Any member of the University community may make a nomination, but employees may not nominate themselves. Nomination forms and more information are available at www.hrs.virginia.edu/relations/oca.

Selected nominations will be submitted to the state for consideration for a Governor's Award, the state's recognition program (see www.dhrm.virginia.gov/publicsvc/govaward.htm).

Recipients of Outstanding Contribution Awards and the Governor's Awards will be announced at the Governor's Awards Ceremony in Richmond during Virginia Public Service Week, May 4-10. To participate as an ambassador during the Governor's Awards Ceremony, an employee must submit the ambassador sign-up Form by March 31, and then be one of 35 chosen at random.
