Residence Hall Replacement Project Moves Pedestrian Route

A stretch of sidewalk along McCormick Road from the Observatory Hill Dining Hall loading dock to Watson/ Webb residence houses will be closed from March 4 to April 2. The sidewalk is being replaced and the bus stop relocated as part of the renovation of the precinct.

The project involves replacing and rerouting sidewalks around Lile-Maupin House, relocating the bus stop and expanding the garbage and recycling facilities.

Pedestrians will be rerouted to a temporary walking path, protected by barriers, on McCormick Road. The parking spaces along the north side of McCormick Road will be relocated to maintain two lanes of traffic. The bus stop will temporarily be located next to Watson-Webb House.

The third phase of the Alderman Road area project, which includes the construction of two residence halls, and the fourth phase, with a single residence hall, are being built concurrently. Future phases will complete the removal and replacement of the 1960s-era dormitories.
