October 18, 2010 — The University of Virginia’s outdoor siren and public address notification system is currently out of service. The system will be offline while the manufacturer and installer work to fix a problem. All other emergency notifications remain operational. In an emergency, you can expect to receive notification from:
• University e-mail
• Cell phone text message; sign up through UVa Alerts
• LED displays in large classrooms
• LCD screens, where available
• Page, where available
• Internal public address systems, where available.
As always, the University home page will provide up-to-date information during an emergency.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Office of Emergency Preparedness at uvaoep@virginia.edu.
