Travel Director Gets Danish Recognition

September 22, 2009 — The Danish Institute for Study Abroad in Copenhagen recently awarded Joan Gore, director of the University of Virginia's Travel & Learn Programs for Adults, a certificate of recognition for her lifetime contributions to American international education and to the Danish Institute.

The Travel & Learn Programs for Adults are among the offerings of U.Va.'s School of Continuing and Professional Studies.

The Danish Institute, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, is an educational foundation of the Ministry of Science and Research in Denmark and considered one of the best study-abroad and international exchange organizations for American and international students and faculty. U.Va. is a major affiliate of the institute.

Several of Gore's U.Va. colleagues were in attendance at the award presentation this summer, including Carl Zeithaml, dean of the McIntire School of Commerce, who was teaching at the Danish Institute and whose school hosts special programs there.
