University of Virginia's West Range Alleys to Close for Paving

September 27, 2011 — The west alleys along McCormick Road in the University of Virginia's Academical Village  will be periodically closed during the weeks of Oct. 3 and 10 to accommodate paving and the construction of a retaining wall.

A top coating of asphalt will be put down in each alley from the West Range buildings to the new sidewalks along McCormick Road. Each alley will be closed to install brick crosswalks, which will be set in mortar, which must cure for at least 36 hours. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed with barricades and signage.

Mews Alley will be closed from 7 a.m. on Oct. 3 to 7 a.m. on Oct. 8; Patterson Alley will be closed from 7 a.m. on Oct. 4 to 7 a.m. on Oct. 6; Poe Alley will be closed from 7 a.m. on Oct. 5 to 7 a.m. on Oct. 7; and Colonnade Alley will be closed from 7 a.m. on Oct. 10 to 7 a.m. on Oct. 12. Poe and Colonnade alleys will also be closed for a few hours on Oct. 4.

Alternative parking will be made available for pavilion residents.
