Aug. 29, 2008 — Qian Cai, director of the Demographics and Workforce section of the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, has been invited to serve on a panel of experts discussing the U.S. Census Bureau's population estimating program.

The discussion, to be held Sept. 25 at the Brookings Institution in Washington, will address controversies related to the Census Bureau's estimates, the methodologies used to estimate the U.S. population and strategies to improve their accuracy.
