U.Va. Law School Posts Record Annual Gifts, Donors in 2006-2007 Campaign

July 27, 2007 -- The University of Virginia School of Law ended fiscal year 2006-2007 with $9.8 million in annual gifts, a new high for annual giving. A record 7,643 alumni (more than 50 percent) participated in the campaign. The Law School also reported $4.5 million in unrestricted gifts and total gift revenue of $13.9 million.

“Virginia is a special place,” said Luis Alvarez Jr. (U.Va. Law 1988), president and chief executive officer of the Law School Foundation. “Every year, our graduates show their loyalty in record numbers. They are essential to our success.”

“We enjoy tremendous affection from our alumni,” said Dean John C. Jeffries Jr., (U.Va. Law 1973). “They remember their days here. Every year they give back generously to help ensure that today’s students benefit from the same experience. Since the Law School relies solely on tuition and private giving, it is impossible to overstate the importance of alumni support.”

The University of Virginia Law School Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that receives, administers and manages private gifts from Law School graduates and friends.
