The 3,690 members of the Class of 2018 arrived at the University of Virginia on Friday and Saturday. It meant a surge of activity on Grounds as the summer gave way to the beginning of the academic year, and it also meant a surge of activity on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. UVA is home to the largest collection of English Gothic novels in the world. Its more than 2,500 volumes include some of the rarest Gothic literature in existence and the early works that inspired enduring classics like Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein.”
