U.Va. Sets Minimum Hiring Rate at $9.75

Oct. 11, 2006 -- Effective Dec. 20, the University’s academic division (Agency 207) will increase the minimum hiring rate for classified and University staff salaried or wage employees (including UVaTEMPS) by 4 percent, from $9.37 per hour to $9.75 per hour. Any employee whose pay falls below $9.75 per hour will be adjusted to the new minimum hiring rate, effective Dec. 20, except in cases where the employee was rated “Below Contributor” on his or her most recent performance evaluation.

The Medical Center will also be increasing its minimum hiring rate to $9.75 per hour, effective along with annual performance-based increases in January 2007.
