U.Va. Tip Sheet: Political Scientist Can Assess Potential Public Reaction to New U.S. Air Strikes in Iraq

University of Virginia politics lecturer Peter Furia can provide insight into the public reaction and political implications of today’s U.S. airstrikes in northern Iraq.

Co-editor of “Public Opinion and International Interventions: Lessons from the Iraq War,” much of Furia’s research addresses public opinion and comparative foreign policy.

His work utilizes survey data to test claims about group identity and inter-group enmity in international relations.

Furia’s research articles have appeared in Global Society, International Interactions, International Studies Quarterly and Polity, and he has also published over a dozen book chapters, book reviews and shorter articles.
