Jan. 10, 2007 -- The Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia has launched its newly redesigned Web site, Millercenter.org. The goal of the redesigned site is to make it easy for scholars, students, the media, and others interested in the issues and the history of American governance to access the vast array of materials the Center makes available.
“The new Miller Center Web site is crisp and engaging, and highlights the work of our scholars and our academic, public, and policy programs,” said Gerald L. Baliles, Director of the Miller Center of Public Affairs. “This includes easy access to webcasts, presidential recordings, transcripts and audio of oral history interviews, online exhibits, essays, analysis, and the full schedule of upcoming events.”
The new home page creates a bridge between current events and historical materials, relating the Miller Center’s work with the news of the day in the “News & Events” section. The “Media Guide” features a useful list of the Center’s scholars and their areas of expertise.
The new web site also fully incorporates the online reference resources of AmericanPresident.org, which includes scholarly essays about each American president, the First Ladies, and the Cabinet members. Launched in 2000, AmericanPresident.org is a popular web resource on the American presidency for teachers, students, and the general public, regularly logging more than 1 million page views per month. It was honored by the American Library Association in 2005 as one of the top free reference sites on the web.
