Carla Williams was named director of athletics at the University of Virginia on Oct. 22, 2017, and formally took the reins of the Cavalier athletics program a few months later.

As she wraps up her first year in Charlottesville, she sat down Jeff White of virginiasports.com for a three-part “Orange & Blue Report” interview looking at the state of UVA athletics and her transition to leading the program.

Part one focuses on the master plan for Cavalier athletics, launched this summer, that sets out to reinforce the football program’s gains and bolster the Olympic sports programs.

In part two, Williams discusses the bowl selection process and the on-the-rise Cavalier football program, as the ’Hoos prepare the face the University of South Carolina Dec. 29 in the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In part three, Williams talks about her move to Charlottesville and how much she enjoys getting a behind-the-scenes look at the success of the Cavalier men’s basketball program.
