The ideological divide between Cuccinelli and Democratic frontrunner Terry McAuliffe is so wide that Bolling in the center could have lured votes from either party, said Geoff Skelley, University of Virginia analyst. “Depending on the kind of race that Bolling ran, he could have (appealed) to either side, and taken all of the moderate vote,” said Skelley of the U.Va. Center for Politics. “Cuccinelli could have ended up winning because Bolling ran.”
One thing that sticks out about McAuliffe now, observed University of Virginia political science professor Larry Sabato, is how he's always jotting copious notes in a pad. "Most of it you learn through osmosis through the years dealing with it on a daily basis," Sabato said of state issues and practices, but McAuliffe "has none of that. That's one of the reasons people have legitimate, honest questions about his ability to be an effective governor."
Insulin, a hormone that enables cells to use glucose as energy, can help, but questions remain about the optimal way to give it, said Dr. Askiel Bruno, stroke specialist at the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Health Sciences University. He's a clinical principal investigator on a National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke-funded study that should determine whether intravenous delivery or the usual shot of insulin works best. Other clinical principal investigators for the trial include Dr. Karen C. Johnston, University of Virginia School of Medicine.
The contrasting tones of the tragic yet majestic painting "The Death of Marat" lit the expectant faces of architecture students and faculty alike as Peter Waldman began his lecture. The William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of Architecture at the University of Virginia School of Architecture, Waldman used the methods of artists such as Jacque-Lois David to illustrate to the audience how one frames the form of nature, emulating the order and dualities presented to express the region's natural culture. He emphasized that by being in tune with the preconditions of the land, architects...
(Letter to the Editor) We are a group of graduate nursing students from the University of Virginia working on our family nurse practitioner and doctorate in nursing degrees. We are currently enrolled in a health policy and politics class and have chosen to undertake the uranium issue as part of our class assignment. We have studied the topic, in favor of and in opposition of, lifting the ban. We all have come to the conclusion that uranium mining is not in Virginia’s best interest.
"McAuliffe vs Cuccinelli = one long vicious, costly, controversial, negative race," University of Virginia political analyst Larry Sabato said on Twitter shortly after Bolling's decision.

Man, if only there was a way you could know whether or not people would come to your school before you admitted them…. Well, one tipster reports that UVA Law might have found the perfect solution to the problem: they call you up, ask if you would attend if accepted, and if you answer the wrong way, they “withdraw” your application. Taken to its logical extreme, nobody would ever “turn down” UVA Law!
Among those quoted in this special report is Dr. Pamela Ross, an emergency medicine physician at the U.Va. Health System.

Timothy Wilson, professor, department of psychology, University of Virginia, US, and author of “Redirect: The Surprising New Science of Psychological Change,” says in an email interview: “In a study by George Loewenstein, professor of economics and psychology, Carnegie Mellon University (US), for example, participants indicated that they would pay more to kiss their favourite movie star in three days than they would to be able to kiss their favourite movie star immediately. Presumably, that is because they would enjoy the three days of anticipation.”
“It’s very likely Powell’s papers contain some reference to the Richmond case, but I have no recollection of anything he said about it,” said John C. Jeffries Jr., a clerk to Powell at the time and later dean of the law school at the University of Virginia. “I think one could infer his position from his vote in Milliken v. Bradley, which – at least in the view of the Supreme Court – presented the same legal issue.”

Yes, strength training helps runners add muscle. But to translate that gain into speed, you have to choose the right moves. ‘Runners should concentrate on building power – or how fast you can use the force you’ve built up,’ says Jay Dicharry, director of the Speed Clinic at the University of Virginia, US. ‘Explosive movements help you activate your muscle power quickly during push-off.’
