The Charlottesville region shed more than 3,000 jobs in 2009, a result of private sector losses, according to the latest Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s jobs assessment. ..."It’s certainly a sobering report," said Michael Harvey, president of the Thomas Jefferson Partnership for Economic Development. ...Harvey said, however, that the area has a solid underpinning in the public sector primarily through jobs at the University of Virginia.
