Rising food costs, soaring gas prices, foundering home sales; what this town needs is a good poet laureate to tell us how we're feeling and help us feel better. ...'Poetry can be about anything,' Mrs. Popkin confidently stated. 'I've written poems about the University of Virginia men's basketball team and football team and about a dog that stopped fights. I've written poems about firefighters and rescue squads and pets.' ... Poems can even be about UVa hoops coach Dave Leitao: He came to town to spark a team, determined to succeed. In his heart he knew the Cavs could win, if his players would ...

... About 8.7 million teens are in the U.S. summer labor force -- a number that's risen by about 2 million since 2003. This "boomlet" of the teen-age children of the boomer generation is one factor that has crowded the job market, according to a 2007 study by the Center for Labor Statistics at Northeastern University. "The biggest advice I'd give is to start early," said Michael Murray, the 23-year-old president and founder of Loudoun County-based Student Development. "We start recruiting for the following summer pretty much the first week of the fall semester." He hired Joseph, the Chesterfie...
