The University of Virginia (UVA) School of Architecture has started a new program about 'robotic ecologies' which wants to answer the question: Will robots take over architecture? As said the program leader, "This research is not just about architectural machines that move. It is about groups of architectural machines that move with intelligence." Apparently, buildings tracking our movements and adapting their shape or texture according human presence are not far fetched. Maybe one day, we'll talk to our homes and they'll answer...
It is becoming more necessary to America's economy for adults in the work force to return to college to earn a degree, according to a report released by several University of Virginia education professors. The progress that America makes in getting more working adults to earn college degrees will be a decisive factor in maintaining the nation's economic competitiveness globally, the report says.
...Concerned that the barriers to elite institutions are being increasingly drawn along class lines, and wanting to maintain some role as engines of social mobility, about two dozen schools - Amherst, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, the University of Virginia, Williams and the University of North Carolina, among them - have pushed in the past few years to diversify economically.

A professor of molecular physiology and biological physics in the University's School of Medicine, Minor is a researcher and inventor in the field of protein crystallography.

UVA has made decisions regarding a number of buildings on the former Blue Ridge Hospital Site. Structures that will be saved include the Lyman Mansion, the Wright Pavilion, the Chapel, the Director's House, the three Bradbury Houses and the Brick House. UVA spokeswoman Carol Wood says the buildings that will be demolished have environmental issues. The site has been sealed off to authorized personnel only due to concerns about asbestos.
