The head football coach of the University of Virginia will take on a different assignment this afternoon. Al Groh will be a guest of UVA's Head Librarian Karin Wittenborg. Groh will be back at the Alderman Library, a site he visited as a UVA undergrad before earning a degree in 1967. The UVA student body has opted to save 'single sanction,' referring to the only punishment for honor code violations: permanent expulsion…But supporters of single sanction won by the slim margin of 62 votes after the results were tallied: 50.5 percent of the 6,476 votes were cast against the multitier system. BusinessWeek magazine ranked UVA's McIntire School of Commerce second among the nation's undergraduate business programs. Not bad, given that the top-ranked program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business costs about four times as much, according to the magazine. With almost 1700 new biomedical papers published daily, even the most tech-savvy scientist finds it hard to stay on top of things. Making things even worse, say researchers at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, is the amount of irrelevant information that comes up in a typical search of literature databases like Medline or PubMed. That's why they developed a new search engine called ReleMed.
