The University of Virginia’s Trick-or-Treating on the Lawn, which took place Friday to avoid a conflict with the next day’s UVA football game, drew more than 2,000 people – its largest crowd in recent years. Dozens of student groups and volunteers joined community members and a menagerie of small creatures and characters on the Lawn to trick-or-treat for candy distributed by Lawn and Pavilion residents.
Vanessa Ehrenpreis, the Lawn’s head resident, called the annual event her favorite UVA tradition. “It connects UVA students to the broader Charlottesville community. It reminds you that there’s a whole world beyond UVA’s serpentine walls, and hopefully encourages people to explore it more,” she said.
UVA Today invited Lawn residents Caitlin Hall and Lia Cattaneo to provide an inside look at this year’s event through Snapchat. Watch the highlights above and follow ‘UnivofVirginia’ on Snapchat.
