UVA to Host Presidential Search Public Forum on April 21

The University of Virginia will host a public forum on April 21 as it continues to search for President Teresa A. Sullivan’s successor.

The forum will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Newcomb Hall Ballroom. It will provide an important opportunity for members of the UVA community and the public to meet with the presidential search committee and participate in the selection of the University’s ninth president.

To reach as much of the University community as possible, the forum will also be streamed online at virginia.edu/live. Suggestions and comments about the key attributes the presidential search committee should consider in potential candidates also may be submitted in advance of the event by posting publicly on social media using the hashtag #UVASearch or by emailing socialmedia@virginia.edu.

Illimitable

“The upcoming forum is an opportunity for every member of the UVA community, whether in Charlottesville or around the world, to share their thoughts as we continue to seek the best person to lead the University into its third century,” University Rector William H. Goodwin Jr. said.

The presidential search committee comprises 11 board members, five faculty members, two students, a senior member of the UVA Medical Center management team and three former board members, including two former rectors. Of the 22 members, 15 are alumni. Goodwin and Vice Rector Frank M. “Rusty” Conner III co-chair the committee.

In addition to the upcoming forum, the committee has been seeking input from students, faculty and staff, alumni and others – in Charlottesville, at UVA’s College at Wise, from around the nation and beyond. Community members can also share their comments with the committee directly via an online survey.
