Music professor Judith Shatin's composition, "Spin," commissioned by the Chamber Music Conference and Composers' Forum of the East, has just been released by North/South Records on a compact disc titled "Reflections." The CD includes music by other composers and was recorded in performances by North/South Consonance Ensemble.

Shatin's piece is the sole composition commissioned by the Chamber Music Conference. In addition, Shatin was one of four musicians selected by the Virginia Commission for the Arts to receive a 2007-2008 Artists Fellowship in composition.

Shatin plans to write a new composition for chamber ensemble and electronics. The Virginia Commission for the Arts awards annual fellowships to Virginia artists in recognition of creative distinction and to support their pursuit of artistic excellence.
