‘GivingToHoosDay’ Raised $3 Million in 24 Hours

Wahoos all over the world came together Wednesday to assemble a whopping $3-million present one day before Thomas Jefferson’s 274th birthday. The University of Virginia’s annual 24-hour fundraising drive, “GivingToHoosDay,” was the most successful yet and drew more than 7,000 individual gifts toward various University schools and programs.

A running donation map showed that gifts came in from 48 states and more than a dozen countries. On the “GivingToHoosDay” school leaderboard, the Darden School of Business climbed to the top for total dollars raised with nearly $546,000, while the College of Arts & Sciences lead in total number of gifts with more than 1,100 individual donations.

University organizations like the Cavalier Marching Band, the Center for Politics and Madison House all saw a boost as a result of the donation drive. The GivingToHoosDay website offers a closer look at all the destinations of donations.

Throughout the day, many donors shared their excitement and UVA programs shared their thanks using the hashtag #GivingToHoosDay on social media. Below, see some of the many messages of support and thanks that were posted all day long.
