It’s time to lace up your shoes to benefit the Charlottesville community as the fourth annual Community Bridges 5K Walk/Run returns to the University of Virginia’s Grounds.

The University, in partnership with the Charlottesville Track Club, is hosting the Oct. 19 event with proceeds supporting four local nonprofits: the Ivy Creek Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia, Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry and the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center.

Students and community members are invited to join President Jim Ryan to walk and run through the Charlottesville community, starting and ending at McCormick Road and Engineers Way on UVA’s Central Grounds.

Ryan established the annual event to strengthen connections between the University and the local community, as part of the UVA’s commitment to being a good neighbor.
