‘Hoo? What? Where?’ This Puzzle Is for Lovers of ‘Little Women’ and the Theater

July 15, 2022 By Jane Kelly, jak4g@virginia.edu Jane Kelly, jak4g@virginia.edu

UVA Today is back with another puzzle, this one for the dramatically inclined. It is timed for the grand return of live summer theater to the University of Virginia, not seen since 2019.

The Virginia Theatre Festival, once known as the Heritage Theatre Festival, kicks off its official summer season tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Ruth Caplin Theatre with a new stage adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s beloved book, “Little Women.” It is one of 17 performances that run until July 31.

North Carolina poet and playwright Howard L. Craft’s one-woman show, “No Fear and Blues Long Gone: Nina Simone,” opens in Culbreth Theater Aug. 3 for five performances.

These staged productions would not shine as bright if it were not for the massive prop rooms at UVA. We thought we’d give you a little behind-the-scenes peek at some of the décor that set designers draw upon.

Tap or click your screen as you discover each of the eight objects in this week’s puzzle and share your results with family and friends. And also consider taking in one of the productions in this year’s Virginia Theatre Festival.

Clues:

  • Silver Tea Server
