More UVA graduates than ever received degrees over the weekend, and they’re not alone. New research from UVA’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service shows that advanced degrees in the U.S. – and jobs requiring them – are on the rise.
Speaking to graduates at UVA’s College at Wise, the University of Virginia president shared five life lessons he took away from one of the University’s greatest sports moments.
The researchers urged other HIV/AIDS clinics to increase their mental health supports on site, especially in the face of opioid and substance-abuse crises.
Students like Katherine Huiskes have helped power this week’s Presidential Ideas Festival, hosted by UVA’s Miller Center. Huiskes came to UVA from Oregon because of the University’s strength in history and politics.
“Poetry is a form of creating meaning from the love, grief, joy and despair of life,” Orr said. The co-founder of the Creative Writing Program is retiring from UVA’s English department faculty after 44 years.
The grads earned degrees from 10 UVA schools, plus the Data Science Institute. They heard remarks from outgoing dean of the School of Nursing Dorrie K. Fontaine, who discussed the elements and wisdom of a good exit strategy.
