Working trips to Africa give Nursing School students, May graduates and professors a chance to hone their skills on the global stage and broaden their world view.

Pamela Kulbok, professor of nursing and chair of the Department of Family, Community, and Mental Health Systems in the University of Virginia School of Nursing, has been selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow for 2012. She joins a group of 20 nurse leaders chosen from around the country to participate in a three-year leadership development program.

Jimmy Howell came to UVA on a football scholarship in 2008. After aspirations of a professional career didn't work out, he decided to follow his true calling. After graduating from UVA last spring, the former punter traded in his football uniform -- for a nurse's scrubs.
