The Cavaliers will cap off an exciting season with UVA’s first-ever appearance in the Orange Bowl, set for Dec. 30. Here’s what you need to know about tickets and travel.

In recognition of UVA student-athletes’ national success this year, Capital One will present a trophy and a $200,000 check for student-athlete scholarships during Wednesday night’s ESPY awards.

The commitment includes a $4 million gift to the Athletics Master Plan and a $1 million gift to the Student Health & Wellness Center.

The demolition of the facility, which opened in 1965, is part of the first phase of the UVA Athletics Master Plan. The implosion will be webcast on Facebook Live.

The slate includes seven home games, three to be played on Friday nights, and six contests against teams that played in bowl games last season.

Cavalier student-athletes entering the University between 2008 and 2011 posted a 92 percent “Graduation Success Rate,” as measured in the latest NCAA report, released Thursday.

Following the announcement that the UVA football team is ranked No. 25 in the first College Football Playoff rankings, the athletics department is offering a special deal on tickets to the Cavaliers’ game against Pittsburgh on Friday night.

The gift from Bronco and Holly Mendenhall is the largest by a head coach to the University. “Holly and I are excited to be a part of the process that transforms Virginia football,” Bronco Mendenhall said.

The new Cavalier coach is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, four-time WNBA champion and the all-time leading scorer in WNBA history.

The Cavaliers were among just seven Football Bowl Subdivision schools nationally to graduate 100 percent of the class that entered in 2010 within six years of their enrollment.
