UVA will match Couric’s $1 million gift for a total investment of $2 million.

UVA is a partner in a program that provides assistance to local communities that are seeking ways to exist more sustainably in a changing environment.

The total includes a $15 million endowment to support the Karsh Institute of Democracy and a $2.6 million fund supporting the Center for Civil War History.

Robert Ruff’s previous support of the Memorial to Enslaved Laborers and his backing for the subsequent programming for that space was a precursor to his current gift.
